After a spectacular gala dinner hosted by Dr Precious Molio-Motsepe, AFI (African Fashion International) and Mercedes-Benz at the City Hall in Cape Town, the fashion started flowing and melting on the catwalks despite the rainy winter weather outside. With my gorgeous friend, South African actress and radio personality Natalie Becker, at my side, we sampled the eye-candy, fashion, wine and festivities. On day one, I attended only two shows, Gavin Rajah and Stefania Morland never failed to impress while staying true to their styles and showcasing their amazing Spring/Summer 2014 collections.
Gavin Rajah‘s Japanese inspired collection dazzled with elegantly designed haute-couture and a ready-to-wear collection. His fearlessness in his design was evident as he ventured into bright colors such as fuchsia and purple, whilst also adding a more muted tones for his more extravagant gowns. There was certainly something for every type of women and every occasion. Hats off to Mr Rajah! After a quick glass of white wine and mingle in the lounge after the show, it was time to gather the troops for the next show.
Stefania! Yes, Stefania Morland may design exclusively womenswear, but her whimsical style is so infectious and I couldn’t help but sport a little grin through-out the show. With a quirky Chinese theme, each model gave us a quirky little wiggle at the end of the catwalk as Stefania’s designs hung effortlessly on their slender frames. It was all about whimsy, fun, cutesy-ness (if that’s even a word). Looks like this is set to be a pretty playful Summer in fashion.
And then it was off to the Official Belvedere Vodka Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2014 Opening Party, held at the trendy COCO nightclub in the city centre. It was so nice to spend some time with television personality and model Cindy Nell and her husband Clive Roberts, television personality Jennifer Su, model Roxy Louw with her cousin and model Frank Muggeridge and so many more. Thank you Vivid Luxury PR for putting together yet another fantastic opening party and Celebrity Services SA for the invitation to the fashion shows.
