south african model, roxy louw turns 29!

Last week I was invited to attend my dear friend, South African model, Roxy Louw‘s 29th birthday party in Cape Town. A low-key celebration, with some big names in South African entertainment, the guest list included tv presenters Jeannie D, Siv Ngesi and Liezel van der Westhuizen to name a few, though it was certainly a family and friends affair with Roxy’s entire family in attendance as well as close family friends. It was a festive evening as guests enjoyed drinks, snacks and of cause the birthday cake was a treat!

Blazing her own trail, Roxy has become a well know celebrity figure in South Africa, with features and covers for magazines such as FHM, Maxim, Sports Illustrated with both local and international prints. Lately, among other business endeavours,¬†she has been spending some time globe-trotting as she showcased Charmaine Taylor’s Legacy Collection jewellery line¬†to an international audience. Happy birthday Rox!

On Saturday, 1 March 2014, South Africa’s elite gathered at the prestigious Val De Vie Estate in Paarl, Cape Town to indulge in luxury, canap√©s, champagne, fashion and of cause a polo tournament at the Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo 2014. This year, as the official fashion sponsor of the VCM2014, D’Ore Boutique (situated in Sandton, Johannesburg) graciously dressed some of our most influential celebrities including¬†model and actress Tanya van Graan, international model Katryn Kruger and model Cindy Nell. International television personality Jennifer Su sparkled in a dress by¬†Vanessa G London for D’Ore Boutique. Wearing a gorgeous summer dress selected from her new online boutique, Just For Tonight, Sue Duminy looked amazing. After the recent release of her first fragrance for women,¬†“Jeannie in a Bottle” (now in stores at Clicks nationwide), television personality¬†Jeannie D, looked radiant in a dress also by D’Ore Boutique.It was wonderful spending the afternoon watching polo and sipping Veuve Clicquot champagne with SA singing sensation Jimmy Nevis, journalist Clayton Morar, owner of Pallu Boutique¬†(situated in Sandton, Johannesburg) Peta Eggierth-Symes, international actress Natalie Becker, presenter Tracey Lange, celebrity stylist Jasna Zellerhoff, beauty blogger Leigh van den Berg, dance music duo Locnville (Andrew and Brian Chaplin), Olympic Gold Medalist Ryk Neethling, Misty Louw, television personality Liezel van der Westhuizen and so many more, with a guest appearance by model Roxy Louw.

magnum ‘pink & black’ launch in cape town

Last week, Magnum South Africa invited some of Cape Town’s top names in media as well as celebrity guests to introduce their new campaign, Magnum “Pink & Black”. The event took place at Cape Town’s summer hot-spot, Shimmy Beach Club with our host for the afternoon, Top Billing presenter Janez Vermeiren. Guests included Top Travel‘s Jeannie D, who is set to release her debut fragrance available in stores soon as well as Top Billing presenter and the face of Revlon South Africa Bonang Matheba. The event unveiled a first in South Africa, a live Twitter Auction where participants could win prizes including iPads and designer shoes. With canap√©s and champagne, guests including model Lisa Cowley, radio personality Gareth Cliff and television personalities Ewan Strydom, Danine Naidoo, Tanya Nefdt and Tracey Lange and myself certainly felt spoilt by Magnum as the afternoon progressed. jeannie d raises funds for ‘help2read’ charity

Last week, South African television personality Jeannie D invited some of her friends to an intimate event in association with Brutal Fruit SA to raise funds for a charity organization that she is most passionate about, Help2Read. The event took place at The Grand Cafe & Room in Camps Bay where guests including Janez Vermeiren, Jackie Wiese, Jacob Wiese, Shirley Bell, Bertha Marie Le Roux, Sue-Ann Allen, Angie Lazaro, Dylan Savage, Danny Peer and myself were invited to make a donation to the charity and enjoy an evening of canapés, sweets and Brutal Fruit beverages. Active in Cape Town since 2005 Help2Read, volunteers provide invaluable literacy support in 111 schools across South Africa changed the lives of over 6500 children so far. With Brutal Fruit SA donating R200 000, Jeannie encouraged her friends to donate and raise additional funds in support of Help2Read.

Last week, rugby affiliates, celebrities and Springbok rugby players celebrated the unveiling of the highly-anticipated new Springbok jersey at the Castle Of GoodHope in Cape Town. Guests including Vanessa Haywood, Africa Melane, Graeme Richards and SK Sekoati and myself were the first to see the new Springbok jersey in spectacular style as honoured guests Jeannie D, Janez Vermeiren and Siv Ngesi joined some of the Springbok players on state to showcase the new design. Spoilt with delicious snacks, Klipdrift cocktails, Ernie Els wines and Castle Lager throughout the evening, each guest received a Springbok jersey on departure and had the chance to meet and chat to all present Springbok players.

With the recent¬†85th annual Academy Awards, Glamour Magazine South Africa invited their readers to attend a star studded ‘Glamour Oscars’ screening at the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town. Celebrity guests included the MC for the evening television personality Jeannie D as well as television & radio personality Jennifer Su, television personality Liezel van der Westhuizen, actress Natalie Becker, actor Hakeem Kae-Kazim, actor Bjorn Steinbach, actress Lee-Anne Summers, Miss South Africa 2009 Nicole Flint, actor Ty Keogh and bloggers Karisa Nicholls,¬†Leigh van den Berg¬†and Clouds Drummond to name a few. Co-Sponsored by Yves Saint Laurent, Cruz Vodka¬†and¬†Ceres Fruit Juices, guests were treated to a make-up counter by YSL and a three course dinner whilst enjoying the Oscars screening.
