Seelan Restaurant & Bar recently opened its door at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Seelan Sundoo who has worked in the restaurant industry for over 23 years thought it was time that he finally ventured out on his own which resulted in this latest addition to the Waterfront. Seelan Restaurant & Bar combines a variety of contemporary and European inspired dishes including all of Seelan’s signature dishes many of which he describes as “home cooked meals with a twist. Fresh and simple is the best approach”, he says. Seelan Restaurant & Bar provides a relaxed and vibey atmosphere, perfect for lunch, after work drinks, and dinner. Guests can enjoy a variety of dishes including Rotisserie Chicken, Rotisserie Duck, the famous “Duck Rice Dish ” and Seelan’s world famous Prawn Curry.  The seafood platters are also great value for money and are a popular choice for patrons. Seelan also boasts an outstanding wine menu including a Seelan’s house wine, which is produced locally by Allee Bleue in Franschhoek.

It was an evening of champagne, good wine, conversation and canapés as Marina Nestel (from The Little Black Book PR) pulled out all the stops to ensure a wonderful event. jeannie d raises funds for ‘help2read’ charity

Last week, South African television personality Jeannie D invited some of her friends to an intimate event in association with Brutal Fruit SA to raise funds for a charity organization that she is most passionate about, Help2Read. The event took place at The Grand Cafe & Room in Camps Bay where guests including Janez Vermeiren, Jackie Wiese, Jacob Wiese, Shirley Bell, Bertha Marie Le Roux, Sue-Ann Allen, Angie Lazaro, Dylan SavageDanny Peer and myself were invited to make a donation to the charity and enjoy an evening of canapés, sweets and Brutal Fruit beverages. Active in Cape Town since 2005 Help2Read, volunteers provide invaluable literacy support in 111 schools across South Africa changed the lives of over 6500 children so far. With Brutal Fruit SA donating R200 000, Jeannie encouraged her friends to donate and raise additional funds in support of Help2Read.

International fashion label, Tommy Hilfiger recently opened it’s doors in Cape Town with a star studded launch event at their new V&A Waterfront store. Special guests including radio & television personalities Tracey Lange, Janez Vermeiren, Jennifer Su, Liezel van der Westhuizen and models Cindy Nell and Tanya van Graan were invited to be dressed by Tommy Hilfiger for this exclusive event. Guests invited to enjoy champagne, canapés and a special gift from Tommy Hilfiger included Ryan Botha, Vanessa Haywood, Roxy Louw, Sue Duminy, Herschelle Gibbs, Sherrin Davie, Jackie Wiese, Jacob Wiese, Clayton Morar, Sharlene Lawrence, Thandie Kupe, Jasna Zellerhoff and myself. Later, VIP guests were invited to celebrate further with Moët & Chandon champagne at the official after party at Shimmy Beach Club. In addition to an amazing launch and party, guests were treated to a personalized monogramed blanket by Tommy Hilfiger.

conor mccreedy “selected works” art exhibition

Last night Conor Mccreedy hosted his art exhibition, “Selected Works 2006-2012” at Ernie Els Wine Estate. Guests including Peta Eggierth-Symes (for Pallu) and Jackie & Jacob Wiese were invited to enjoy Ernie Els wines and canapés while enjoying the scenic winelands and live entertainment. Paying tribute to one of South Africa’s most talented artists, guests had the opportunity to own selected Conor Mccreedy original works with proceeds from the auction going to charity. It was certainly an evening of art and luxury in true Mccreedy Blue style.

Pictured above: “The Crowned Ballerina” (oils on pigment on Belgian linen) sold for R105 000 to a private collector, “Rianne’s Hair” (pigments and oils on Belgian linen) sold for R50 000 and a rare unseen and exclusive early 2006 work titled “Masai Mara” (oils on canvas) sold to a private collector.
