shine / skitter magazine’s 2015 launch gala in cape town

How often do you get to spend the evening with 4 beautiful cover-girls? Okay, these cover-girls happen to be dear friends of mine and I was lucky enough to scoop an invitation to the Cape Town launch of  Shine/Skitter Magazine last Tuesday, 24 Novermber 2015, after they dazzled Johannesburg the previous week showcasing their covers. Shine/Skitter Magazine is one of South Africa’s most prestigious glossy luxury magazines and this year they featured four of SA’s top personalities, each with their own cover; Top Billing TV Magazine Show’s Jade Hubner, Afternoon Express Show’s Bonnie Mbuli as well as Expresso Show Morning Show’s Leigh-Anne Williams and Zoë Brown. Certainly an evening to remember, guests were shuttled in style by Mercedes-Benz and offered a delicious glass of Graham Beck champagne upon arrival. Celebrity and media guests included TV personality Tanya Nefdt, comedian Angel Campey, blogger Jasna Zellerhoff as well as Khanya Siyengo and food blogger Ilse Fourie.

Treated to delicious canapés while we waited for the guests of honour to arrive, the stunning Mercedes-Benz showroom showcased some high-end cars to admire and dream about owning. It was a spectacular evening and even included some surprise prizes including luxurious skincare, fragrances and diamonds!

Belvedere, the world’s original luxury vodka, is delighted to collaborate with Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment to promote SPECTRE, the highly anticipated 24th instalment of the James Bond series, due for global release on November 6, 2015.

Belvedere will release two custom made and limited editions to celebrate Bond’s vodka martini ‘Shaken not Stirred’, and its partnership with the 24th Bond adventure, SPECTRE. In an unprecedented move, Belvedere has replaced the iconic Belvedere Palace with the famous MI6 headquarters. Belvedere’s signature blue palette will be switched for a distinctive green, mirroring the secret spy agency’s ink of choice, creating a truly memorable collector’s edition of 100 bottles. A 007 twist will also be applied to Belvedere’s iconic Silver Saber bottles, known for their cutting edge, metallic aesthetic and illuminating technology.

Belvedere’s SPECTRE marketing program will include a global advertising campaign and a wide range of promotion and activation rights around the film. The marketing campaign will be launched as of February 2015, with a strong focus of efforts in on-premise establishments and retail stores across multiple countries. luxury: tom ford private blend fragrance – tuscan leather

Most of my friends understand (or at least pretend to understand) my love of all things luxury, but here I’ve decided to talk a little about another passion of mine, fragrances. The Tom Ford Private Blend Fragrance range to me could be the best of both worlds, combining my passion for luxury and my love of fragrances. One of the most influential men in fashion (in the world), the genius that is Mr Tom Ford has released an impressive line of niche fragrances made of the finest ingredients. I sniffed a rose bases fragrance by Mr Ford called Cafe Rose, and it smells like an actual rose, like you’ve jumped into a rose… unparalelled! I’d like to talk a bit about one of my all time favorite Tom Ford fragrances that I recently purchased and love to wear out or even just at lounging at home if I need a little reminder of luxury (just to put a smile on my face), Tuscan Leather.

Tuscan Leather, this niche fragrance is so incredibly complex and actually smells like delicious, good old-fashioned fine leather. With a rustic robust opening, your senses are immediately whisked off to an ethereal vintage world. Hints of raspberry adds sweetness as the fragrance dries down, with the main note, leather, ever-present. It projects just enough (not too much, not too little) and lasts the whole day. It’s dry down is simply sweet leather, simple and elegant.

THIS ULTRA-SEXY INTERPRETATION CAPTURES THE PRIMAL, ANIMALISTIC SCENT OF LEATHER AND IT’S SMOOTH VOLUPTUOUS QUALITIES. I absolutely love this fragrance, with Tom Ford‘s Tobacco Vanille coming in at a close second in my starting line-up of my all time favorite fragrances. I have worn Tuscan Leather to many events, premieres and social occasions and find that it’s most suited for black tie events, a little dressing up with a cheeky touch (raspberry sweetness) but also perfect for casual wear. Confident, sexy, cheeky, fun, formal, strong and mostly… manly. This is a very masculine fragrance in my opinion, however it is marketed as unisex (as is all Tom Ford Private Blend Fragrances). That said, I don’t believe any fragrance is for men or women only, whatever fragrance you like, you should wear regardless of the marketed target demographic.

The best leather fragrance in my opinion – Tom Ford Tuscan Leather.

Ps. Tom Ford Private Blend Fragrance range is now available at Edgars (V&A Waterfront) in Cape Town. It’s not cheap, but boy is it worth it!!

For over 200 years, Bisquit Cognac has been synonymous with luxury and joie-de-vivre – the joy of living. From being the official cognac of Air France Concorde to gracing the tables of royalty, Biscuit celebrates the finer things in life. With that spirit, Bisquit Cognac launched in South Africa with a lavish launch event held at the Crossley & Webb showroom in Cape Town. It was a wonderful evening with our host for the night Bob Mabena and guests including actor Bjorn Steinbach with his model girlfriend Alex McGregor as well as television personality, Danine Naidoo, comedian Siv Ngesi, cricketer Robin Peterson with his fiancée Portia Braaf. Also in attendance was socialites Thandie Kupe, Busi Nyeti, Rafeeka Allie and fashion blogger Jasna Zellerhoff. All guests were treated to a personalized engraved bottle of Bisquit Cognac to savour in leisure.

On Saturday, 1 March 2014, South Africa’s elite gathered at the prestigious Val De Vie Estate in Paarl, Cape Town to indulge in luxury, canapés, champagne, fashion and of cause a polo tournament at the Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo 2014. This year, as the official fashion sponsor of the VCM2014, D’Ore Boutique (situated in Sandton, Johannesburg) graciously dressed some of our most influential celebrities including model and actress Tanya van Graan, international model Katryn Kruger and model Cindy Nell. International television personality Jennifer Su sparkled in a dress by Vanessa G London for D’Ore Boutique. Wearing a gorgeous summer dress selected from her new online boutique, Just For Tonight, Sue Duminy looked amazing. After the recent release of her first fragrance for women, “Jeannie in a Bottle” (now in stores at Clicks nationwide), television personality Jeannie D, looked radiant in a dress also by D’Ore Boutique.It was wonderful spending the afternoon watching polo and sipping Veuve Clicquot champagne with SA singing sensation Jimmy Nevis, journalist Clayton Morar, owner of Pallu Boutique (situated in Sandton, Johannesburg) Peta Eggierth-Symes, international actress Natalie Becker, presenter Tracey Lange, celebrity stylist Jasna Zellerhoff, beauty blogger Leigh van den Berg, dance music duo Locnville (Andrew and Brian Chaplin), Olympic Gold Medalist Ryk Neethling, Misty Louw, television personality Liezel van der Westhuizen and so many more, with a guest appearance by model Roxy Louw.

Privé Cocktail ReceptionThe Lookout, V&A WaterfrontSALA Africa Luxury & Wealth Summit 2014 co-hosted with GUILD and in collaboration with Vlisco and Absolut Elyx, the privé launch event for the summit saw guests from across the Luxury and Wealth Management sectors spend an evening with Trevyn McGowan and the exhibitors at GUILD. Friends of SALA, old and new enjoyed drinks mixed by the specialists behind the Absolut Elyx bar while exploring Africa’s first design fair. International guest speakers in town for the host event – SALA Africa Luxury & Wealth Summit, had an opportunity to open discussions about the relevance of Africa in the international luxury arena which was elaborating upon at the main Summit day at the Cavalli Estate in Somerset West.  Vlisco CEO Hans Ouwendijk was present to elaborate on the 168 year relationship, that the Dutch company has had with the African continent and the relevance of the textile industry and it’s exciting developments in elevating traditional West African wax textiles to the international luxury platform. Vlisco have also collaborated with GUILD featured designer Nacho Carbonell on a special installation – “Playground Closes at Dusk” located in the BMW Art Garden.
