American Idol, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, Randy Jackson, Ryan Seacrest

Last Sunday saw the start of the new season of American Idol auditions as Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban join Randy Jackson on the judging panel. “What I want to be is honest and someone that the contestants can look to for guidance,” said Mariah Carey on the first day of auditions. Rapper Nicki Minaj says that it will be fun if people audition with her music and adds, “We’ll have fun, the Barbs are gonna be watching, it’s gon’ be poplin’.” Excited to have Mariah on the judging panel, Randy Jackson says, “I’m so excited she’s here, because I mean, more than half these girls that walk in want to be her.” Hoping that his judging skills will be authentic, country singer Keith Urban mentioned that he had entered a few similar shows to this when he was young in Australia, and recalls being torn apart by a judge and hopes not to be that kind of a judge but “I think we also need to know really truthfully what we’re doing right and wrong,” said Urban. “I’m excited that we’ve all gotten together, that we’ve gotten everyone to say yes they’ve onboard. We’re of to a good start,” added show presenter, Ryan Seacrest.

Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, the second mainstream album from the rapper Nicki Minaj, debuting at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 200 Chart last week, selling 81,000 copies on her second wind, bringing Roman Reloaded’s total sales to 334,700. The album features the star-studded likes of Lil Wayne, Drake, Nas, Young Jeezy and 2 Chainz. Nicki Minaj is, line for line, one of the wittiest, most creative rappers working today and her many personas and voices fly through her songs with joyful abandon, and she seems to be having so much fun. On the effervescent, minimally invasive bounce track “Beez in the Trap,” Minaj plays the queen of a hive, with Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz buzzing around her. The Trinidadian American rapper from New York City offers repeated evidence of her talents, and she delivers funny, biting, bawdy lines and rhyming couplets with apparent glee.Nicki has a personal style that defies all the rules of fashion instead of wearing the same frocks as other stars she dons curve-clinging jumpsuits, bright ensembles, pompom dresses and insane wigs, “I won’t wear red. I have always been a pink girl and I feel like red is the anti-pink,” says Minaj. The worlds most colorful rapper, Nicki has certainly found her place in the entertainment industry.
