Certainly a highlight every year, the J&B Met 2015 took place at Kenilworth Racecourse on 29 Jan 2015, but the festivities started the day before for me and a few friends. The amazing folks at African Pride Hotels graciously invited me to spend the weekend at their luxurious 15 on Orange Hotel. The J&B Met 2015 saw hundreds of horse-racing and fashion enthusiasts join some of South Africa’s most celebrated personalities enjoy an afternoon of entertainment. I was joined by talk show host Khanyi Mbau, media personality Jen Su, comedian Siv Ngesi, actress Boity Thulo, TV personality Leigh-Anne Williams, TV personality Maps Maponyane, media personality Lalla Hirayama and so many more at the exclusive J&B Met Main VVIP Marquee to enjoy amazing food and entertainment. With so much happening all at the same time, we wondered off to the prestigious Racing It’s A Rush VIP Marquee to spend some time mingling with Cindy Nell, Liezel van der Westhuizen and many more. The fashion was incredible and fantastically imaginative with best dressed couple prizes and entertainment by MiCasa. Thank you Hilton Weiner for dressing me to J&B Met 2015.

talking secrets with jen su

Jen Su (Jennifer Su) 01

I recently visited Jen Su at her luxurious Penthouse apartment at the 15 On Orange Hotel in Cape Town. With an impressive television news anchor resume in Hong Kong, China and Asia, Jen is currently a TV News Anchor for Summit TV and Sky News “The African Business Report” as well as entertainment news presenter on SABC3’s The Expresso Show and Flash. She’s also the Hollywood Reporter on 5FM’s Gareth Cliff Mornings radio show. What many people may not know is that is that Jen Su is also a Corporate MC and Singer. “Busy and happy!  I’m MC’ing a lot of corporate events which keeps me very busy on the days that I’m not on TV or radio” says Su.

Jen Su considers herself as a strong networker and well organized person and feels fortunate to have been in a position to help others over the years, “I’m forever grateful for the many people who have believed in me” says Su. Jen has certainty been fortunate to work with some of South Africa’s biggest celebrities, walking red carpets at numerous prestigious events all over the world, including the Cannes Film Festival and New York Fashion Week, and meeting singer Mariah Carey at the One&Only Cape Town gala with Sol Kerzner. Another highlight she mentioned was teaching the Diski Dance to the Diepsloot schoolchildren during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. She recently took part in Danny K‘s latest music video and is looking forward to being one of the presenters and singers for the upcoming South African Music Awards.

Jen Su (Jennifer Su) 02

A woman with impeccable style, it came as no surprise to me when she mentioned Lipsy for Stuttafords, Bvlgari for Sunglass Hut, La Mer, Louis Vuitton, & BlackBerry as her favorite brands as well as Savour Restaurant at the 15 on Orange and The Bungalow (the stunning revamp of the old La Med in Camps Bay). Su also lists Cape Town, Bangkok and Hong Kong as her favourite destinations in the world.

Just a little secret about Jen… “I love singing opera in the shower at the top of my lungs!”.

Come along as Jen Su gives us the grand tour of her gorgeous 15 On Orange Penthouse apartment.

Shot on location at 15 On Orange Hotel in Cape Town, Jen Su wears: Blue floral silk dress by Elbeth Gillis and Blush rhinestone dress by Lipsy for Stuttafords. D&G gold and tortoise sunglasses from Sunglass Hut. Hair by Bianca Floris at Frank Fowden. Makeup by Maybelline.

the j&b met 2012 ‘made different’

J&B Met 2012 01

The J&B Met was certainly ‘Made Different‘ this year, with ensembles created from pure imagination showcasing South Africa’s unique talent and incomparable fashion. With the race well underway and many poised to bet on their lucky horse, Jeannie D took our breath away wearing a simple, elegant and timeless dress by Kluk CGDT. Adding a dash of colour, Jo-Ann Strauss, wearing a gorgeous Stefania Morland dress, dazzled. Wearing a whimsical fascinator, Jennifer Su selected the perfect pair of red Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses from Sunglass Hut to compliment her stunning dress by House Of Fashion as she joined Jo-Ann Strauss, Janez Vermeiren, Cindy Nell, Ryan Harrison and Natalie Becker at the Sungless Hut Inner Circle luxury marquee, where all things luxury was on the menu.
