Certainly one the highlights on the social calendar, the Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo 2014 takes place this Saturday, 01 March 2014 and the spectacular Val de Vie Estate. Over the last few year, some of South Africa’s biggest names in television, film, radio and media have indulged in this prestigious event, including Jeannie D, Tanya van Graan, Siv Ngesi, Leigh-Anne Williams, Jo-Ann Strauss, Natalie Becker and Olympic Gold Medalist Ryk Neethling. An afternoon of polo, fashion and charity, the 3rd Annual Blackberry Pink Polo 2012 event took place on Saturday, 27 October 2012 at the luxurious Val de Vie Estate. Guests including Ryk Neethling, Jennifer Su, Roxy Louw, Marilize de Clercq, Brigitte Willers, Richard Hardiman, Peta Eggierth-Symes (Pallu) and Kuli Roberts donned their finest hats and fascinators for an afternoon of champagne and canapés with awards for ‘Best Dressed’ and musical entertainment. Television & Radio Personality Jennifer Su looked radiant in a gorgeous pink dress and hat by Pallu and limited edition Carol Boyes Breast Cancer Awareness neck piece with Tiffany & Co sunglasses by Sunglass Hut. Stylist to the stars, Marilize de Clercq‘s looked chic in a fresh, summer dress by HipHop. Also at the prestigious event were designers Kerry and Dominik from The Little Hattery who created many of the guests hats and lavish fascinators. This year, two top female Polo teams, The Curves and The Bolds, played an exciting match on Val de Vie’s celebrated polo fields while guests enjoyed champagne by Pongraz, fashion by Polo SA, accessories and gifts from Carrol Boyes and an Elizabeth Arden pampering area. The Annual Blackberry Polo event, organized by Edith Venter is a charity event to support the cause of women’s wellness and the fight against breast cancer in aid of Reach for Recovery.

This event was launched in 2010 and is historically held in October as it raises funds and awareness for Reach for Recovery which is the breast cancer side of Cancer Association for South Africa. Elizabeth Arden make up artists and ambassadors Nthato Mashishi and Melissa van Zyl joined teamed up with True Love Magazine to share their make-up secrets and enjoy a delicious brunch at the Upper Eastside Hotel in Cape Town on 21 May 2012. It was a day of beauty and glamour, filled with tips and demonstrations as celebrity make-up artists Nthato and Melissa answered 50 reader’s questions and gave them beauty tips. Editor of True Love Magazine, Lerato Tshabalala interacting with the 50 readers who attended the event along with True Love Beauty Editor Thami Kwazi, who also shared her expert advice.

Dressed to the nines, celebrities, VIP’s, socialites and fashionistas enjoyed day of luxury at the 2nd Annual Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo 2012 at the Val de Vie Estate. Jo-Ann Strauss was absolutely breathtaking wearing an elegant dress by Elbeth Gillis, sunglasses by Sunglass Hut and adding just a dash of sparkle to the perfect ensemble, a gorgeous oversized green hat. Jeannie D dazzled in a gorgeous sequins matt-metallic dress accompanied by her fiancé. Natalie Becker, Roxy Louw, Bjorn Steinbach, Hakeem Kae-Kazim and Elana Afrika, wearing a beautiful 46664 Fashion dress, were spotted sipping Veuve Clicquot Champagne in style.

Also enjoying the polo, champagne and gourmet canapés and the music of ‘Goodluck‘ was Ryk Neethling, Ryan Botha, Gina Goldsmith and Katlego Maboe. Guests were pampered by Elizabeth Arden to freshen up their make up with celebrity stylists including Nthato Mashishi and Gina Myers and hair styling by Be Première . A first for the Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo, Jenni Button and Viyella presented a spectacular fashion show showcasing their latest collections. Later guests were invited to party the evening away at the Equus Lounge with a live performance by Lu Chase. The Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo 2012 at the Val de Vie Estate seamlessly brought together luxury, polo and champagne to create an ethereal equestrian summer’s day.

Like an equestrian dream, the 151st L’Ormarins Queens Plate took to Kenilworth Racecourse on 07 January 2012. To the blue and white theme, guests were dressed to the nines, with celebrity guest Jennifer Su showcasing one of her many timeless hats, designed by Peta Eggierth-Symes for Pallu, paired with a stunning blue dress, also by Pallu. Wearing a gorgeous white dress by Cape Town fashion designer, Stefania Morland, Jo-Ann Strauss sparkled with her Louis Vuitton Cruise Collection 2012Flore Clutch Saumur‘ bag and Louis Vuitton shoes. The stunning Natalie Becker, dazzled in a stunning summer dress by Klȗk, perfectly matching the theme. Melinda Bam looked absolutely radiant as Miss South Africa.

One of South Africa’s most well known presenters and the owner of Full Circle Model Management, Janez Vermeiren, donning a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses from Sunglass Hut, was there to celebrate with his brother. In exquisite vintage style, Melody Maker along with Melinda Shaw, editor in chief of Heat Magazine were seen in good company enjoying the day.

Other celebrity guests included, Marc Lottering with Anwar McKay, Elana AfrikaTarryn Lamb dressed by Zinzi Couture and Chad Saaiman, dressed by Markham, Soli Philander and Cosmopolitan’s Sexiest Man in SA 2011, Gregg Hammond. Roxy Louw looked radiant in Anel Botha with Minki van der Westhuizen wearing French Connection UK.

Judged by Jennifer Su, Sam Walker (La Muse) and Dominik and Kerry (Little Hattery), the ‘Best Hat‘ was awarded to The Expresso Show‘s Kia Johnson. The ‘Best Dressed‘ award went to Darielle Robertson, judged by Tammy TinkerEmily Bell, Francesca Cumani and Laduma Ngxokolo. Prizes included Cartier Fragrances, Elizabeth Arden Gift bags and the main prizes were luxury bags by Cape Cobra valued at R21000 each.

Joining the ‘Best Dressed‘ women on stage, artist, model and entrepreneur, Conor McCreedy wearing Peyman Umay Bespoke (NYC) would have been a shoo-in for the best dressed man if there was a ‘Best Dressed Man’ category – Perhaps it’ll be added next year Conor.
